Vermont Rail & Sail

Our journey begins with an early morning departure as we head north to Albany, NY. We will meet our Amtrak train that will take us on our journey north to Plattsburgh, NY. From the train we will transfer back to our waiting motor-coach and cross by lake ferry into Northern Vermont. Our destination is the resort village of Stowe, high in the Green Mountains, with lodging for 2 nights at Commodore’s Inn. Dinner included this evening at the hotel. (D)

Enjoy a hearty Vermont Country BREAKFAST before we meet “Mr. Vermont”, our guide for the day. He seems to know everything and everybody in the Green Mountain State and the “Northern Kingdom” of Vermont is his specialty. This morning we’ll begin with a guided tour of Stowe and also visit Emily’s covered bridge, sample the legendary flavors of Vermont Cabot Cheese and the sweet apple cider at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill and cider village shops. On today’s tour you will hear the legends and lore of the Green Mountains that only a local story teller can provide. Enjoy a Wine & Cheese Reception at Commodores this afternoon followed by a lovely evening  dinner cruise ,with entertainment, as we sail from Burlington out on the waters of Lake Champlain. A Summer sunset over the lake will be a lasting memory of our Vermont Explorer adventure. (B,D)

Once again breakfast is included at the Commodore Inn, before we head over to the Amtrak Station, where we once again board the Amtrak train, headed for Bellows Falls, VT. After, lunch is included before we depart for home. (B,L)
