Itinerary
Day 1 - Home - Lancaster, PA
Our travels take us to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Our first stop is at the Appalachian Brewing Co. where lunch is served. Located in historic Lititz, in what was known as Lititz Junction, it is a former paper-box factory. Lunch is served with a nice cold Appalachian Craft Soda, or go up to the bar and try one of their home crafted brews (on own). After, we depart for Lancaster, arriving at The Cork Factory Hotel, our historic accommodations for the next two nights. This 19th Century building once housed the historic Armstrong Cork and Kerr Glass Companies. There is time to freshen up before our private wine, cheese and paint party hosted by our instructor from Creatives by Michelle. We can all sit back and enjoy each other’s ‘crafty side’ as dinner is served. (L,D)
Day 2 - Lancaster
This morning, a full breakfast buffet is included before travelling into the heart of Lancaster County to Kitchen Kettle Village. Known to be a quick stop where we stock up on jams and jellies, but today, we’ll stay for a bit longer to take part in a flavorful ‘food fight’ and hands-on whoopie pie making experience! Upon arrival, we receive special vouchers to enjoy a celebration of popular PA Dutch snack foods with ‘fighting’ flavors, and learn how to make the famous PA Dutch whoopie pies! Later this afternoon, we take our reserved orchestra seats at Sight & Sound Theatre for their brand new production of “Queen Esther.” Set in the opulent yet perilous Persian Empire, QUEEN ESTHER is a captivating tale of beauty and bravery. Esther’s ordinary life changed forever when she was taken through the palace doors, entering a new world of royalty and risk. With a crown on her head and a secret in her heart, can she find the courage to trust in God’s plan and believe that she was made for such a time as this? Experience one of the most riveting Bible stories of the Old Testament as it comes to life with magnificent sets, special effects and live animals. Dinner is served at Miller’s Smorgasbord. (B, D)
Day 3 - Lancaster, PA
After breakfast, we say good-bye to Lancaster and continue our journey to the Mount Hope Estate and Winery, for a light lunch paired with a wine and beer tasting. The Mansion was originally built in the 1800’s as a private home, but is now a flourishing historic estate. This afternoon, we travel home with great memories of a more stylish side of Lancaster County PA. (B, L)
