A Taste of Gettysburg

Experience a journey through taste and time on this historic voyage to Gettysburg, featuring: an authentic Victorian carriage tour, an orchard and winery trip, a visit to Gettysburg Heritage Center, and so much more!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Gettysburg, PA

This morning we will have an early morning departure for a journey through taste and time to Gettysburg, PA. Upon arrival in Gettysburg, we check into our accommodations for the next three nights, the historic Gettysburg Hotel, founded in 1797. From the hotel, we will head to the Seminary Ridge Museum for their “Mending the Wounded” program before meeting General and Mrs. Lee for dinner at the Refectory. (D)

Day 2 - Gettysburg

Following breakfast, we visit the Gettysburg Heritage Center. Here the we explore the Center where you will have two unique perspectives, one from the civilians who lived in the town, and the other from the soldiers on the battlefield. Later we enjoy a Victorian Carriage Tour of Gettysburg. Lunch is included today, at the Appalachian Brewing Company, where we will also be able to enjoy an optional beer or craft soda tasting! Following lunch, we will make our way to the Mason Dixon Distillery for a tour and tasting. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent as free time to explore Gettysburg on your own or enjoy some shopping before we head to dinner at the Dobbin House Tavern. (B, L, D) 

Day 3 - Gettysburg

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for the Hollabaugh Bros. Orchard. Here we enjoy a covered wagon orchard tour and an apple dumpling demonstration. From the orchards, we head to the Round Barn Farmer’s Market for a spot of shopping before stopping at the Hickory Bridge Farm for lunch!  Following lunch, we make our way to the Adams County Winery for a tour and tasting. We return to the hotel for some free time before dinner, which is at the Farnsworth House Inn. After dinner, we will make our way to the Farnsworth House’s Civil War Camp for Campfire Ghost Stories. Day 4 - Gettysburg - Home

Breakfast, is once again served before we head to the 1860 Shriver House. Here we learn the civilian side of the Battle of Gettysburg from the Shriver family, whose lives were changed forever as a result of the events that occurred on the rolling hills of Gettysburg in 1863. This afternoon we bid farewell to our past as we head home to the present. (B)
