Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Istanbul, Turkey

Welcome to Istanbul, a captivating city where Eastern and Western cultures harmoniously blend. Over the next three nights, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Istanbul’s rich history, stunning landmarks, and vibrant atmosphere. Upon arrival, settle into your hotel and join your fellow travelers for a meet and greet with your Tour Director before a Welcome Dinner of Ottoman-styled cuisine at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2 - Istanbul

Today, experience the wonders of Istanbul on an immersive guided tour through the city’s most iconic landmarks. Explore the ancient Roman Hippodrome, where your guide will bring to life the chariot races and celebrations that once filled this historic arena. Step inside the magnificent Blue Mosque to admire its six soaring minarets and stunning interior adorned with intricate tilework in mesmerizing shades of blue. Gaze up at the awe-inspiring dome of Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. Tour the opulent Topkapi Palace and glimpse the lavish lifestyle of Ottoman sultans. Day 3 - Istanbul

Later, set sail on a scenic Bosphorus Strait cruise, gliding between Europe and Asia while taking in Istanbul’s spectacular waterfront skyline from the water.

The remainder of the afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. Afterward, cross the Dardanelles by ferry and continue to the legendary archaeological site of Troy, where civilizations have left their mark for over 4,000 years. Day 5 - Troy - Kusadasi

Day 6 - Kusadasi - Pamukkale

Begin your day exploring the magnificent ruins of Ephesus, where your local guide will bring ancient history to life during an enthralling walking tour through this remarkably preserved site. Visit St. John’s Basilica, traditionally regarded as the final resting place of the apostle John. Later, journey to the ancient city of Hierapolis, established as a thermal spa destination around 190 BC and reputedly frequented by Cleopatra herself. Discover the city’s main highlights before taking in the breathtaking natural wonder of Pamukkale, where brilliant white travertine terraces cascade down the hillside, filled with shimmering thermal pools that have drawn visitors for millennia. Day 7 - Pamukkale - Konya

Set out early for a scenic full-day journey along the historic Silk Road, the legendary trade route that once connected China to Istanbul. Pause in Burdur for lunch and a brief stroll through the town center before continuing to Konya, where you’ll arrive in the early evening. Unwind over dinner at your hotel, included this evening. Day 8 - Konya - Cappadocia

Start your morning in Konya with a visit to the Mevlâna Museum, the spiritual heart of the Whirling Dervishes tradition. Continue to the impressive Sultanhani Caravanserai, one of the largest and best-preserved rest stops along the ancient Silk Road. Admire the soaring vaulted architecture of this fortified waystation before journeying onward to Cappadocia, arriving in the early afternoon.

Descend into one of the region’s extraordinary underground cities, where ancient communities carved intricate subterranean networks nearly 3,000 years ago to shelter from invaders and conflict. Cappadocia’s otherworldly landscape of fairy chimneys and surreal rock formations were sculpted over millennia by volcanic eruptions and wind erosion. Settle into your hotel this evening for your 2-night stay before we head out for a Whirling Dervishes ceremony. (B,D)

Day 9 - Cappadocia

After breakfast, we head out and explore the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring 11 remarkable rock-hewn churches and monasteries dating to early Christianity, many decorated with vibrant frescoes. At lunchtime, join a local family for an interactive cooking class where you’ll prepare manti—traditional Turkish dumplings filled with seasoned meat and fresh vegetables.

No visit to Turkey would be complete without learning the ancient are of carpet making. This afternoon, discover the art of traditional Turkish carpet weaving as you learn about the entire process—from raising silkworms to spinning thread, dyeing fibers, and creating intricate patterns. (B,L)

Day 10 - Cappadocia - Istanbul

This morning, transfer to the airport in Cappadocia for your short flight back to Istanbul. Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel and check-in. After an afternoon at leisure, get together with your fellow travelers for a Farewell Dinner. (B,D)
