With its rich cultural history, amazing architecture, geographical diversity and the simple warmth and hospitality of its people, it’s easy to see why this fascinating country is becoming a trending tour destination. Day 1 - Depart for Cartagena, Colombia
Arrive at the airport and board your flight to Cartagena, Colombia. Upon arrival in Cartagena, we transfer to our hotel and check-in.
Once settled, we embark on a walking-tour of the historic center. Your tour will take you through the old town under the Puerta Del Reloj (Clock Tower), a symbol of Cartagena, into the Plaza de los Coches. You will hear of the myths and legends, histories and stories of Cartagena from ancient times right up to present day. We continue our tour to Plaza Bolivar; with its shady areas, and where a fresh Lemon juice can be enjoyed whilst watching the world go by.
After, we return to our hotel for a welcome dinner, the remainder of the evening is at leisure. (D)
Day 2 - Rosario Islands
Breakfast at the hotel before departing to Rosario Island. The Rosario Islands are formed of 23 separate coral Islands. It’s one of the 46 Natural National Parks of Colombia, created to protect one of the most important coral reefs of the Caribbean Colombian Coast. This marine habitat creates one of the most diverse and richest marine ecosystems in Colombia. The park has an extension of 120,000 marina and land hectares, and is associated with marine pastures, mangroves and the numerous species of algae and animals that have their habitats in there, all of which feed the numerous corals and fish life that inhabit the reefs. Enjoy a lunch on the Island.
In the evening we return to our hotel for the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B,L)
Day 3 - Santa Marta
After breakfast, we board our coach for our City Tour of Santa Marta, an enchanting city with pristine geographical location. Sit back and enjoy the city view with the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. You will get a chance to get a closer look tomorrow. Upon arrival at your hotel, take some time to explore the city on your own. For wonderful local cuisine, speak with your Tour Director for suggestions. (B, L)
Day 4 - Tayrona National Park
After breakfast, we make our way to Tayrona National Park. Driving northeast from the city of Santa Marta you will pass along the foothills of the famous Seirra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world. After passing through the main park entrance and check point, you will continue for an additional 10—20 minutes along a rough gravel track to the end of the road trail. From here its time to get your walking boots on and get ready to hit the costal paths, for those who prefer a more moderate pace, horses can be arranged to carry you or your bags at an extra charge.
As you walk, your guide will be on hand to explain not only the culture and history of the park, but also about the wildlife that may see along the way. After, we return to our hotel for the remainder of the evening at leisure. Speak with your Tour Director for options surrounding the area. (B,L)
Day 5 - Santa Marta – Medellin
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before our departure to Simon Bolivar International Airport for our flight from Santa Marta to Medellin. Upon arrival we will transfer to the hotel to drop luggage and freshen up.
Later, we set off on our Panoramic City tour of Medellin. A city with colorful history; from the cities valiant founding fathers trekking across the Andes, to the days of cartels, and more recently the rebirth as one of South Americas most vibrant and progressive cities.
Return to the hotel before going to dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 6 - Medellin - Bogota
This morning, we have breakfast at our hotel, before our full-day tour of Medellin. During our city tour, you will have a chance to marvel in the city’s iconic attractions and fascinating locations. You will get to see “Plaza Botero”, the famous sculpture park where many giant sculptures of Colombia’s most famous artist, and Medellin’s born sculptor, Fernando Botero are exhibited. A ride on the city’s famous metro and cable car system will not only provide great views of the city but will be a chance to understand a bit more about the geography and social make up of Colombia’s second city.
After we transfer to Jose Maria Cordova International Airport for our flight to Bogota. Upon arrival in Bogota we will check into our hotel. The remainder of the evening is at leisure for you to enjoy . (B)
Day 7 - Bogota
After breakfast you will get a chance to experience Bogota at its fullest, including a visit to the Paloquemao Market. Abundant with fresh food and flowers, it is the second largest market in the city and one of the most important retailers in the country offering a great insight to the life and customs of Bogota.
After, we will have a chance to participate in a cooking demonstration at Donostia Restaurant.
Rounding off our day, we will make a stop at La Candelaria, the heart and soul of Bogota. From its humble beginnings this is the oldest part of the city and the Plaza Bolivar (Main Square) are a must for any visitors agenda. The Square is the focal point in this historical part of the city, surrounded by several important colonial and republican style buildings, including the Palace of Justice and Colombian Congress. The Plaza is also home to the Mayor’s office and the Primary Cathedral of Bogota that dominates an entire corner. As you wander the streets of La Candelaria away from the main square, your guide will not only explain the history of Bogota, but also the intricacies of current Colombian culture and daily life.
We finish our day with a farewell dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Depart Bogota
After breakfast this morning, we transfer to the airport and board our flight home. The tour may be over, but the memories of all the beautiful places we have visited will stay with you. (B)
