Enjoy a visit to Vermont’s Grafton Cheese and a ride on the Green Mountain Flyer on this scenic Day Tour of one of New England’s most picturesque regions!
Day 1 - Home - Green Mountains, VT
Today, we head north to Vermont; the Green Mountain State. Our destination is the historic village of Chester where we will take a ride on the Green Mountain Railroad.
This morning, it’s all aboard the Green Mountain Flyer for a train excursion into the picturesque Vermont countryside as you relax in beautifully restored coaches. Enjoy beautiful views and historical narrations as you travel through the Green Mountains. We will ride over a high trestle with stunning views of Ludlow, up to Summit and return to Chester on this delightful train ride. If we hit it right, perhaps we’ll see lots of colorful trees. This is a narrated ride from Chester to Ludlow and back to Chester. Enjoy the ride by seeing sights that you may not be able to see from the road.
Next, it is on to lunch where our coach will wind us through the roads of Vermont to Ludlow. We will have lunch at the beautiful Castle Hill Resort & Spa. Our pre-select entrée choices are: Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Apple Mango Chutney or Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon encrusted with Tomato and Fresh Herbs with a Cucumber and Caper Salad. Both entrees are served with a Caesar Salad, Dinner Rolls, Dessert, Coffee, Tea, or Decaf.
Also today, we’ll make a visit to the Grafton Village Cheese Company. This company was founded in 1892 by dairy farmers who gathered together in a cooperative to make their surplus milk into cheese. Today, quality and taste are the hallmarks of the company’s award-winning processes. Their traditions have stayed over the years; they make the cheese by hand using raw milk from small family farms. Be sure to taste your way through the store!
