Day 1 - Home - Gloucester, MA

Today, we are taking a trip to Gloucester, Massachusetts to learn all about its fascinating history and see it’s beautiful coastal views!

First thing’s first! We are meeting our local guide at the Harbor Loop. Here, they will tell about the story of Gloucester. We will also view the famous sculpture of Fitz Henry Lane who was an American painter and printmaker. The largest collection of his painting is at the Cape Ann Museum which is where the tour will lead us to next. Here, we will be having a guided tour of the museum. The museum was founded in 1873 as the Cape Ann Scientific and Literary Association. Today, the Museum is a vibrant cultural center that includes galleries, an auditorium, library, archives, a children’s activity center, two sculpture gardens and two historic homes.

After the museum, your local tour continues with a stop at the Gloucester Fisherman’s Memorial.

After the tour, we will be having lunch at the Cape Ann Marina Resort. Here, you can enjoy your lunch with magnificent ocean views. Lunch choices are: Lobster Roll (served with french fries), Baked Haddock, Portside Pasta (linguine sautéed with garlic, shallots and grape tomatoes), or Shrimp Tacos (served with french fries). All entrees come with a garden salad, and soft drinks.

During lunch, you will have the pleasure of listening to the tales of local fishermen. Local fishing Captains will thrill you with interesting tales from fishing grounds on the open ocean. From wild storms, to run-ins with the Russians, to rescues by the Coast Guard, these tales will surely leaving you wanting more. Enjoy the stories from the brave men and women who have made their living off the fierce ocean that is the fishing grounds of the North Atlantic.

After lunch and the tales, we will head over to Main Street to have some free-time. Enjoy some time to shop in the quaint shops.
