Day 1 - Home - Fort Ticonderoga, NY
Today, we are going back in time and spending the day at Fort Ticonderoga, located in Ticonderoga, New York. It is located on over 2000 acres of land overlooking Lake Champlain and Vermont’s Green Mountains. Fort Ticonderoga is the one place in America that tells the complex international story of the origins of the nation’s military and its role in the founding of the United States.
We start the day off with a historical introduction! This will be given by the expert museum staff, and provide the opportunity for your group to engage in an in-depth description of Fort Ticonderoga and its epic story.
There are many activities you can choose to do at Fort Ticonderoga. You can enjoy some of the many guided tours they offer! Some of them include, a museum tour, a historic garden tour, A Witness to History tour and many more! All of the tours are conducted by the educated staff dressed in accurate 18th century period clothing. There are also different weapon demonstrations you can watch, such as a musket firing and cannon firing. You can also take your time and enjoy a leisurely stroll though the King’s Garden, or you can take a hike on the Carillon Battlefield Trail which is a 1.7 mile loop.
Don’t forget to stop at America’s Fort Café for some lunch. Savor fresh salads from Fort Ticonderoga’s King’s Garden and enjoy a wide variety of sandwiches and daily specials all while taking in the beautiful views of Lake Champlain, Mount Defiance, and the Green Mountains of Vermont. No meal will be complete without saving room for their homemade pies, including apple pie made fresh from their own apple orchard. Regional beer and wine round out the menu for a memorable dining experience. Lunch will be on your own.
