Travel Tip Tuesday - Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

Commemorating the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862, this holiday celebrates Mexican culture, from its cuisine and music to the traditional crafts. You may not be in Mexico this year, but there is no reason why you can’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo from home!  Here are six ways to celebrate the holiday this year!

1. Learn to make margaritas!  This tequila-based cocktail is linked to Cinco de Mayo celebrations and is refreshing and delicious. The most popular origin of this cocktail goes to Dallas socialite, Margarita Sames that invented the drink while vacationing in Acapulco.
2. Support a local Mexican Restaurant and order a festive Mexican lunch or dinner.
3. Listen to Mexican music and make it a celebration to remember by creating a playlist on Spotify, Amazon, or apple music.
4. Decorate with some colorful and festive decor.
5. Go on Utube and learn some traditional Mexican dances.
6. Get cooking - this is a fun way to get into the kitchen, learn about the Mexican culture through food and melt the hours away!
