Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart for Reykjavik, Iceland

Arrive at Boston Logan International Airport and check-in for your overnight flight to Iceland.

Day 2 - Arrive Reykjavik

Welcome to Iceland! Transfer independently to your hotel in Reykjavik, the gateway to Iceland. Spend the rest of your day at leisure exploring museums, shops, galleries, cafes and soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds the world’s northernmost capital, or join an optional city tour, and visit landmarks such as Höfði House where Reagan and Gorbachev met to end the Cold War, as well as Hallgrimskirkja church, an iconic Reykjavik landmark.

Later tonight, scan the skies for the Northern Lights, (Aurora Borealis) among the most awe-inspiring phenomena on earth. The Northern Lights are the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere. Variations in color are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding.  The lights appear in many forms, from patches or clouds of light to streams, arcs, ripples or shooting rays that light up the sky with a colorful glow.

Day 3 - Reykjavik

Spend the day at leisure to explore Reykjavik, surrounded by incredible landscapes and countless natural wonders. Or perhaps take an optional tour to the world-famous Blue Lagoon, a unique natural pool of mineral-rich geothermal water located in the middle of a lava field. Geothermal seawater is led directly to the Blue Lagoon forming wells as deep as 6,000 feet and the water stays warm at 100-110°F throughout the entire year. An indoor Blue Lagoon and geothermal sauna are also on site. The Blue Lagoon’s warm water and natural ingredients of mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax and escape the stress and strain of daily life.

Day 4 - Reykjavik

Full day to explore Reykjavik at your leisure or choose to take the optional tour of the Golden Circle, which showcases some of Iceland’s most popular tourist attractions including the country’s best known natural, cultural, and historic sites. From Reykjavik, visit the Geysir geothermal area, home of the famous Geysir and Strokkur hot springs. The Strokkur hot spring erupts every 5 minutes or so, making it one of the most active geysers in the world. Then, on to the Gullfoss waterfall, the queen of Iceland’s waterfalls, tumbling down a deep gorge. Next stop is a visit to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet and one of the world’s oldest parliaments was founded in 930 AD. Finally, visit the Friðheimar greenhouse where you will learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes with the aid of geothermal heat and bumblebees.

Day 5 - Reykjavik

A full day to continue your exploration of Reykjavik or visit the southern coast on the optional South Shore Adventure tour, featuring the wild beauty and scenery of the black sand coastline. The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is the first stop. This powerful waterfall is fed by melting water from a glacier-capped volcano which cascades into a beautiful meadow. Bring your camera for our next stop, Skógafoss waterfall. The mist from the falls often produces rainbows on sunny days. Next, it’s a short walk to view the rugged, icy blue scenery of the Sólheimajökull glacier before ending our tour at the charming village of Vik, surrounded by a stunning panorama of seaside cliffs.

Day 6 - Depart Reykjavik

Transfer to Keflavik International Airport on own for your departure flight back to the USA.
